IIT ACADEMY
September 14th 2012

Dear Parents/ Guardians:

Asalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

Alhamdulillah, we have successfully completed the first two weeks of school. We look forward to a promising and prosperous school year Insha’Allah. For regular updates and announcements about the school, please visit our school’s website at www.iitacademy.ca.

There are a number of changes to our Policies and Procedures. We kindly ask you to take some time to review the ones listed below, as well as others in the Student Handbook.

Tuition

Please be advised that as of October 1, 2012 we are switching fee payment from post-dated cheques to automatic withdrawal from your bank account.

This will simplify things for parents: you will no longer have to write out a stack of cheques for the year. We need two items from you by Wed. Sep. 26:
1. Name of the parent to whom the tax receipt will be issued
2. A void cheque
(Tax receipts will be issued for a portion of the fee payments). The automated fee withdrawals will end automatically in June 2013.

Apparel:

 A reminder to all parents to please mark your children’s clothing (shirts, bags, lunch bag, shoes) with their names, and retrieve any items that the child leaves behind or does not need any more in school.

 The lost & found contains many leftover clothing & shoes from the previous academic year. If you are missing any items please go through the lost & found by Thursday September 13 before we donate them to charity.

Parking:
 We kindly ask parents/guardians not to stop or park your vehicle at the entrance of IIT Academy. Park your vehicle when dropping/picking up at the designated parking space. Also do not park in the handicap parking spaces and unless you have a visible permit. Please be aware that we have designated teachers who will be monitoring the parking area.

Attendance:
 Students must arrive at school by 8:35 am. The gymnasium doors will be closed at 8:45 am for the morning assembly. Any student who arrives after the gym door is closed will be considered late and as such must obtain a late slip before going to class. A total of three late slips in a week will have serious consequences.

Friday Lunch:
 Students are not allowed to purchase food from the Jumu’ah bake sale. IIT Academy will have its own fundraising lunch on alternate Fridays. A notification letter will be sent home prior to the fundraising lunch, Insha’Allah.

Birthdays:
 As a rule, IIT Academy does not celebrate birthdays; parents are therefore asked not to send any special food item or treats for birthdays.

Treats/Snacks:
 IIT Academy is a peanut free school. Parents are kindly asked not to send any lunch/snack item that has peanuts, tree-nuts or any of the common allergens. We encourage parents to promote a healthy lifestyle by sending healthy and nutritious snacks.

Jazakhum Allahu Khairun,

Laila Maarouf
Principal
