Weather Alert – October 29, 2012
As Hurricane Sandy approaches it is expected that Eastern and Southern Ontario will experience high winds, heavy rainfall and possible flooding, which could result in road closures and power failures.
IIT Academy Severe Weather Policy
IIT Academy will follow the lead of the Toronto District School Board (www.tdsb.on.ca) in determining school closures in the event of severe weather. This decision is usually made in the early morning by 6:30 a.m.
In the event TDSB cancels school (not school bus) IIT Academy will also cancel school for the day. This information will be conveyed to the media (680 News and CBC Radio One) and will be posted on our websites (www.islam.ca and www.iitacademy.ca).
Parents and students are encouraged to listen to their local media on bad weather days for school updates.
In the event that severe weather or any other unforeseen event forces IIT Academy to cancel school in the afternoon, every effort will be made to notify parents to pick up their children as early as possible.
There will be an adequate adult supervision for any child who has not been picked up; however we encourage parents to make every effort to pick up their children once they have been notified of a school cancellation.
