Letter from the IIT Academy’s Principal
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah
We hope and pray that all of you are well and your upcoming winter break provides the rest and quality time needed with your families.
Alhamdulillah, we had a great start to the 2017-18 academic year despite the uncertainties that lingered for the last several months. With Allah’s (s.w.t.) guidance, the agreement reached between the IIT management and the UFCW Union representing the teachers was ratified on Thursday December 7, 2017. The parents who attended the information session on Wednesday December 13, 2017, were informed of the IIT management’s decision to increase tuition by $25 per month, per student. Please consider this letter a formal notice of that decision. The increase in tuition will commence as of January 01, 2018. A subsequent tuition increase, which is to be implemented for the Fall 2018-19 academic year, will be calculated and communicated no later than May 2018.
We would like to thank the IIT Board’s representatives on the negotiating team for their endurance and hard work, and for the parents’ patience throughout this ordeal.
The agreement will impact the Academy in many ways, one of which I would like to bring to your attention. Teachers’ sign-out time has now scaled back from 4:10 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. (20 minutes after the end of class) and for this reason we are requesting that you make the necessary adjustments to pick up your child on or before 3:50 p.m. As a result of this change, parents who pick up their child after 3:50 p.m. will be invoiced at the end of the month, please refer to our school policy for the information regarding after school care charges.
Despite this change, our Hifz classes will carry on as usual. As we get ready for 2018, I would like to thank the Educational Advisory Committee and the Parent Teacher Association for their ongoing efforts and dedication to make a difference at the IIT Academy.
Jazak Allahu Khairan to all the parents and students for their continued understanding and support. We wish you an enjoyable break.
