Welcome Back!

Dear students, parents, and staff members,

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatu Allah Wa Barakatuh.

I am so excited to return to my adopted home city, Toronto, after twelve years of absence. I am also greatly honoured to be entrusted with the leadership of the Islamic Institute of Toronto Academy, such beacon light, which has been in service of our great community as well as our beloved country for many years.

First and foremost, I sincerely thank Br. Yousuf Siddiqui, my predecessor, the IIT staff and volunteers, and of course the current and past serving board members for their outstanding services and sound leadership, which is allowing me today to inherit a great vibrant institution with solid foundation and remarkable achievements.

Insh’Allah (God Willing), our focus this year and the years to come will be on:

  • helping our children build strong Islamic character and outstanding citizenship that enable them to contribute positively to their community and to the whole society at large;

  • giving our children the opportunity to develop self-confidence as well as basic leadership skills, such as public speaking, conflict resolution, problem solving, and teamwork. Such eminent skills for success in all their future endeavours;
  • helping our children excel in their academics by providing them quality academic services.  Thus, heavy emphasis will be on the 21st century skills, literacy and numeracy programs, integrating technology, and inquiry-based learning.

In order to achieve the above-mentioned goals, we will be implementing the ABC active approach:

A– Achievement– IIT Academy staff and administration are committed to helping each and every student work to his/her full potential.

B– Behaviour– The school is fully committed to helping our students become fully responsible for their own actions.  Our code of conduct is meant to help students reflect on their own conduct and draw lessons out of their setbacks. A variety of progressive discipline strategies will be in place.

C—Celebrating Successes- Celebrating little successes will lead to breeding bigger successes. Hence, my team members and I are committed to highlighting as well as celebrating each accomplishment and every noticeable progress.

My team members and I are determined to doing all what it takes to take the academy to the next level. Accomplishing such mission won’t be possible without your full support and cooperation, which I am optimistically expecting.

May Allah (SWT) guide us to best serving our children and everyone around us.

Yours truly,
Moussa Ouarou
(New) Principal
